Original-Cin Exclusive: A Star is Born After-Party at TIFF
By Bonnie Laufer
It’s one of the most anticipated films of the year and Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star Is Born does not disappoint. After making its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, Cooper’s movie — the fourth iteration of this story — is emerging as a front-runner during the upcoming awards season.
To fete the movie at TIFF, Warner Brothers held a very exclusive intimate reception at the Fairmont Hotel for the Broadcast Film Critics Association, of which our own Bonnie Laufer and Karen Gordon are members. Ergo, these awesome snaps.
Cooper and cast Lady Gaga, Sam Elliott and Anthony Ramos were in attendance for close to an hour and graciously took pictures. Bradley appeared enamoured and extremely proud of his leading lady, giving her the spotlight and hanging on her every word. The feeling was mutual: Gaga continually praised Cooper as a director and was blown away by him as a musician.
Elliott said it was one of the best-ever experiences he's had making a movie. Ramos, meanwhile — who is brilliant in the Broadway production of Hamilton — is someone we are going to be seeing a lot of on the big screen.
